In my time as a teacher, I have become passionate about how the right conversations with your hearing or deaf child can have a huge positive impact on their language and life outcomes. In fact, I have undertaken a Masters dissertation on this subject and the research was double peer reviewed and published in an international research journal.
And so began my journey to developing ‘Little Conversations, Lifelong Confidence’, a service for parents and carers where you can access personalised advice, guidance and strategies on-line, at a time that suits you, about a range of issues you may need some help with. I understand the long wait times and limited support that NHS and education settings are able to offer and I aim to provide an affordable service that will build your skills- as you are your child’s most important educator!
I use the term deaf to describe all levels of deafness from mild to severe, temporary to permanent and all types of language modes, spoken or signed language. I am a member of the British Association of Teachers of the Deaf (BATOD) and as such all terminology I use is based on national best practise.
These Little Conversations with your child can be in spoken English, British Sign Language or I can advise you on a communication approach that is right for your child.
